Marcia’s Brisket

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lb brisket
  • Garlic, crushed
  • 3 tbl Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pkg onion soup mix
  • 1 bottle chili sauce
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tbl brown sugar
  • 1 cup water

Steps

  1. Bake covered for 3 hours at 350

Grandma Solwitz Cake

Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar, white
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Strained juice from ½ large orange
  • 5 eggs, separated
  • Nuts
  • Powder sugar

Steps

  1. Work together the brown and white sugar. Add 5 yolks then add juice.
  2. Add in the dry ingredients.
  3. Roll and cut dough. Dip cookies in egg whites. Then roll in nuts and sugar.
  4. Bake large cookies for 30 minutes for 350. Bake small cookies for 15 minutes at 345.

Chocolate Chip Squares

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 25 cup flour
  • 25 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cups chopped nuts (optional)

Steps

  1. Cream together butter and brown sugar. Add beaten eggs.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt. Add to egg mix. Add in chocolate chips and nuts.
  3. Bake in greased 8 x 8 pan at 350 for 35-40 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 5 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbl sour cream or use yogurt with ½ tsp honey and dash of honey
  • 1 cup banana pulp
  • 5 cup flour
  • 1 cup nuts (chopped)
  • Dash salt
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Steps

  1. Mix sugar, butter, eggs together. Add yogurt/ sour cream, vanilla, then banana and flour alternatively.
  2. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 lb butter
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ cup strained orange
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • Nuts
  • Extra sugar

Steps

  1. Work together sugar, butter, and brown sugar
  2. Add 5 yolks to above. Then add strained juice. Add dry ingredients.
  3. Roll and cut. Dip in egg whites, then sugar and nuts.
  4. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes

Mom’s Blueberry Cake

Mom’s Blueberry Cake

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups sugar
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 cups blueberries

Topping

  • ¼ cup butter
  • Dash cinnamon
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup flour

Steps

  1. Mix sugar, shortening, eggs thoroughly
  2. Stir in milk. Sift together flour, baking powder, sat.
  3. Blend 2 cups blueberries.
  4. Make topping: combine all topping ingredients
  5. Carefully spread batter in 8 inch spring pan. Grease and flour. Sprinkle with crumbs.
  6. Bake at 375 for 45-50 minutes

Date and Nut Cake Evies

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cup flour
  • 1 cup boiling water mixed with 1 cup dates
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbl cocoa
  • 1 cup chopped nuts plus chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Mix dates and water with baking soda.
  2. Sift flour, cocoa, and salt.
  3. Cream shortening, add sugar, and eggs.
  4. Alternate add flour and dates.
  5. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips.
  6. Bake 350 for 45 minutes in 9 x 12 pan
