Grandma Solwitz Lime Chiffon Pie

Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 150 oz condensed milk- sweet (1 can)
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 teasp salt
  • 1 baked pie shell
  • 4 egg whites

Steps

  1. Beat 4 egg yolks until lemon colored
  2. Stir in milk, lime, and salt- blend
  3. Beat 4 whites, add sugar (2 tblspns) and some cream of tartar. Beat until stiff.
  4. Fold 1/4 cup meringue into mixture (yolk and pour into baked shell)- cover with remaining meringue
  5. Bake 400- 8 minutes or more till brown
